Question 1

What is Nikshala AI?

Accepted Answer

Nikshala AI is a transparent platform for studying in Germany. It lets you search verified universities and programs, check eligibility, convert your CGPA using the official Modified Bavarian Formula, estimate blocked account and Uni-Assist fees, prepare documents, and file applications with a human quality check.

Question 2

Can I study in Germany in English?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Many German universities offer English-taught programs, especially at master's level and a growing number at bachelor's level. Nikshala lets you filter programs by teaching language, and English-taught programs usually ask for an English test such as IELTS or TOEFL.

Question 3

Do public universities in Germany charge tuition fees?

Accepted Answer

Most public universities in Germany charge little or no tuition for regular degree programs, and students typically pay a modest semester contribution. Some states and some non-consecutive or non-EU cases can differ, so Nikshala always shows the fees listed on each program's official page rather than assuming.

Question 4

What is a blocked account (Sperrkonto) and why do I need one?

Accepted Answer

A blocked account, or Sperrkonto, is a German bank account where you deposit proof of funds for living costs before your student visa is approved. The required amount is set by the federal government and updated periodically. Nikshala's blocked account calculator shows the current amount month by month and lists trusted providers.

Question 5

What is Uni-Assist and do I have to use it?

Accepted Answer

Uni-Assist is a central service that many German universities use to receive and pre-check international applications. Some universities require it, others accept direct applications through their own portal. Nikshala shows the correct application route for each program and can estimate the Uni-Assist versus direct fees.

Question 6

What is a Studienkolleg?

Accepted Answer

A Studienkolleg is a foundation year some international students complete when their school-leaving qualification is not yet considered equivalent for direct admission to a German bachelor's program. It ends with an assessment exam (the Feststellungsprufung) that qualifies you to apply.

Question 7

Does Nikshala guarantee admission to a German university?

Accepted Answer

No. Nikshala prepares, checks, and files applications, but admission decisions are made by the universities.

Question 8

Are Uni-Assist and university fees included in Nikshala's price?

Accepted Answer

No. Nikshala's price is the professional service fee only. Official University, Uni-Assist, and government fees are paid separately.

Question 9

How does Nikshala convert an Indian CGPA to a German grade?

Accepted Answer

Nikshala uses the official Modified Bavarian Formula with an ECTS-weighted overall grade, and lets you confirm each subject row before generating a ready-made Excel export.

Question 10

What documents do I usually need to apply to a German university?

Accepted Answer

Common documents include your academic transcripts and degree certificates, proof of language ability (English or German depending on the program), a valid passport, and often a CV, motivation letter and references. Exact requirements vary by program, so Nikshala's document tracker follows what each application actually asks for.
